Paris is world renowned for its fabulous cuisine. It’s this passion for food that has created over 14,000 restaurants within the city limits.

By heading to the spots where locals go to eat, you can enjoy wonderful food for a reasonable price.

Start with Vandermeersch on Avenue Daumesnil. A short stroll from the Porte Dorée metro station, you should get here as early as possible on a Saturday to get your hands on some kouglof.

This cake is flavoured with almonds, raisins and orange water, and usually sells out within an hour of opening.

For lunch, head over to Café Constant in the 7th arrondissement. If you have a bold palate then you’ll love this place, as the menu has dishes like offal and game.

You can choose from lighter mains like duck & potato pie, and you’ll be surrounded by locals as you wait for your food.

When the time comes for a coffee stop, head to the 10th arrondissement’s Holybelly.

It has a pinball machine, and you can choose from a variety of blends from around the world. It’s a great place to have a full English for breakfast, which is a real local favourite.

If you’re looking for somewhere to have dinner, try Le Perchoir. It’s just a stone’s throw from the Père Lachaise Cemetery, which is famous for containing Jim Morrison’s grave.

A rooftop restaurant that will give you lovely 360 degree views over the city streets, it’s a really popular spot so make sure you book a table.

With dishes such as pumpkin soup with foie gras and côte de boeuf (rib steak), the great food matches the atmosphere.

If you’re in the Nation area, sample some of the best seafood in Paris at Clamato.

A relatively new restaurant, they don’t take bookings so get there early or outside of peak dinner hours to get a table.

The Maldon oysters and octopus carpaccio come highly recommended.
