The village of Lassay-les-Châteaux is situated in the rural landscape of the Mayenne, in north-western France.  It is traditional and charming, with lakes and rivers in the locality, so it’s just perfect for walkers, cyclists and for fishing.  There are plenty of shops in the town and a swimming pool.  

The ground floor of the cottage is open plan.  There is a comfortable sitting area with a wood burning stove and a fitted kitchen to one end.  A wooden staircase leads to the first floor double bedroom and bathroom.  In the gable is a generous double bedroom reached by a steep staircase.  Both bedrooms and the sitting room have views of the château.  This is no ruin, but a 15thC castle, open to the public and lending the town a marvelous atmosphere.

Outside the property is a storeroom with WC, and a small terrace, ideal for a barbecue, table and chairs and a bottle of wine!  Altogether a perfect bolthole.
