Clement Beaune, France’s Junior Minister for European Affairs, has warned that the country is set to introduce a mandatory quarantine period for anyone arriving from the UK.
Speaking on TV station France 2 Beaune said: ‘We will have a measure called reciprocity so that our British friends do not close the border in one single way.
“For travellers returning from the United Kingdom, there will probably be restrictive measures decided in the next few days by the Prime Minister and by the Defence Council.”
It’s ten days since the UK placed quarantine restrictions on those entering the UK from France.
France saw a spike in coronavirus cases on Monday as it reported 4,897 new cases over the past 24 hours (as of 24th August).
According to the health ministry, the death toll in France stands at 30,513 with 242,899 overall cases.
